This substantial pair of older Chinese hand-carved solid limestone pedestals would make fine display bases for your favorite indoor or outdoor flower pots or sculptures. They might also decorate an impressive entry to your Fine garden or pathway. They come from a 40 year old Chinese antique stone collection formed in the 1970s-1980s.
China, a large-scale pair of hand-carved limestone pedestals with prolific carving of tao tie mask handles, cloud imagery, and auspicious good luck bat incising. Pedestal tops are scalloped to represent flower petals. Bases are square. The whole are representative of China’s stone column bases used in antiquity to support wooden columns in typical Chinese architecture.
Dimensions: 30 inches high and 14.5 inches diameter at top.
Quality: Hand-carved from solid medium gray colored limestone
Provenance: Coming from an old Beijing collection assembled in the 1970s-1980s.
