Striking Contemporary Sculptural Ikebana Vase with Tomobako box

This stunning, brilliant blue contemporary glazed Japanese sculptural Ikebana vase “Hanaike”, mid- late 20th century Showa period, comes with it’s own Tomobako collector box. The vessel itself is of grand proportions, 25.5″ long, 8″ wide, and 11.5 ” high, and of notable asymmetric, wave design. It comes in it’s own wooden box that Japanese ceramics are sometimes presented in, usually the more expensive pieces. After designing and creating a grand piece such as this, the potter puts quite a bit of time & effort into making the box, choosing the style of ribbon, not to mention the calligraphy which is actually an art form in Japan. The two pieces together create a striking duo!
