Category: Japanese and Asian Fine Interior Art, SFA Blog
Bento Boxes have been used since 1100 AD, as an aesthetic and portable food container throughout Japan.
This rare find, an antique wooden red & black lacquered bento box display circa Taisho period 1915, holds
20 individual black and red lacquered signed boxes with lids, and can be smartly repurposed for a unique
storage unit in today’s home or professional chef’s kitchen. A real conversation starter, with a connection to
Japan’s storied past, and modern American pleasure in Japanese cuisine style. The bento boxes themselves
are 9″ x 5″x appx 2″, with the entire piece measuring 25″x20″x10″.
