A monumental Australian aboriginal double fish bark painting of Barramundi (sea bass) by artist Campyon, Northern Territories dating some 35 years ago. Mint condition. Superb rendering in classic cross hatch style recently acquired from an old mid western collection. Large-scale size may be mounted horizontally as shown or vertically (see additional photo). We have had it professionally framed in a quality, simple black wood frame- ready for your wall with both horizontal and vertical hangers attached to its backing.
Dimensions: Framed: 22″ high and 34″ length.
Painting: 16″ high and 28″ length.
History:
Signed Campyon 15-6-1981, Arnhem Land, with original certificate, Certificate from “Milingimbi” of Darwin, N.T. reads:
“Artist: Campyon, Clan Group: Rheinbaga, Moiety: Yirritja”, it refers to this piece as a “Dreaming” and states that the artist calls this dreaming “Mandiayan (his own)”. It continues that this particular painting “depicts Ratjuka (Barramundi).”
