Ancient China, a large fine and deeply hand carved and painted wood figure of a seated Shakyamuni Buddha in mudra of Meditation, Ming dynasty (1368-1644).
The carved and painted seated holy man with downcast eyes and serene face carved in a respectful naturalistic expression and wearing draped robe, with scattered remnants of original poly chrome painted colors from significant age.
This is a fine quality example that could serve as a centerpiece in any quality Asian art collection.
Substantial Dimensions: 44 inches high and 24 inches wide and 14 inches deep
