This is a scarce and lovely pair of Japanese temple find gold gilt and lacquered wooden Crowned Kannon and Bodhisattva standing tall and replete with original mandorlas and lacquered display bases.
We acquired them from a large Japanese collection this past year from one of our many buying trips.
Our Bodhisattvas were hand-carved and hand gilt and then the head curls were finely painted with a gorgeous cobalt blue hair glaze. Finally a fine perforated cut metal jewelry like crown was added.
Dimensions: 14 inches tall and 8 inches wide at base
Gliding on hand carved bird form wooden tray bases
Possibilities: They would look perfect indoors in your special tokonoma, shrine, or mediation space.
