China, a hand carved standing effigy of a winged bird, stone, 35cm, 14” high, northwestern China, Late Neolithic (2100-1100 BCE)
The upright plump bird form with two well shaped wings of irregular lengths possessing horizontal cut grooves as feathers with defined head on a short neck and ears, eyes, pointed beak, tail all on a flattened oval base the whole purposely stone carved from a course stone showing ample calcification from ancient burial.
