China, a large archaic Cloud and Hook patterned jade ornament crafted from a pale celadon green colored jade with russet brown inclusions. Neolithic period, Hongshan culture (circa 3500-3000 BC)
Quality: fine condition
Dimensions: 3.75 inches tall and 8 inches width. We will include a complimentary custom display base.
Neolithic jades from this period are handmade, hand abraided and hand polished using Primitive tools of the time: bamboo, stone, water and stone dust. Notice the considerable calcification on this example- evidence of submersion and great age. The resulting finished jade is quite thin.

In addition, our jade bi has been authenticated by Mr. Gu Fang, Senior Fellow at the Center of Jadeology and Jade Culture in Beijing (CASS).
