China, a fine and large archaic Double Dragon and Cloud shaped patterned jade ornament crafted from a pale celadon green colored jade with light russet brown inclusions. Neolithic period, Hongshan culture (circa 3500-3000 BC)

Quality: fine condition

Dimensions: 3.25 inches tall and 7.5 inches width.

Neolithic jades from this period are handmade, hand abraided and hand polished using Primitive tools of the time: bamboo, stone, water and stone dust. Notice the considerable calcification on this example- evidence of submersion and great age. The resulting finished jade is quite thin.
