China, a fine and seldom seen ancient jade tablet set consisting of four (4) rectangular jade strips the total obverse engraved with incising of a figure with hat, fishing, and mountain scenery. The backs of these jades are carved with lettering typically found in early Chinese bronze wares. The pale celadon green colored jade with ample calcification and typical irregular drill holes appropriate to their great age.

History:
In ancient China, the Warring States Period (475–221 BC) was an era of division. After the relatively peaceful and philosophical Spring and Autumn Period, various states were at war the Qin reunited them all under the Qin Dynasty.

Ancient jades from this period are handmade, hand abraded and hand polished using primitive tools of the time: bamboo, stone, water and stone dust, and possibly metal of that time. Notice the considerable calcification on these examples- evidence of submersion and great age. The resulting finished jades are quite elegant.
