History:
The couple Kuch is one of the most important German ceramist couples. Unlike other ceramics, they have not developed a single individual handwriting, but have entered into a symbiotic division of labor. Therefore, it is almost impossible to distinguish pieces of Wilhelm and Elly. Elly created the forms with regard to the decorations and glazes developed by Wilhelm, but it also presented him with challenges by his inventive genius. Wilhelm Kuch was born in 1925 in Fürth. Since 1947 he has been dealing with the pottery, Elly graduated between 1946 and 1949 a pottery lesson and then from 1949-1951 a training to the Goldschmiedin. In 1955, they opened a larger workshop with several craftsmen, apprentices and apprentices, and foreign potters were regularly guests there. While the employees made small series (vases, jugs, harness), Wilhelm and Elly dealt with unique pieces (sculptures and reliefs).
