From an old French collection.
A fine hand crafted wood and repousse holy reliquary box of angular architectural form depicting Christ in Majesty , angels, and desciples on six surroundinig panels. Each panel is hand burned and polychromed in red, cream, blue, green and brown colors and the hand crafted copper repossee work is accented by blue cabochons. Original key with working lock.

History of the Pyrography:
py·rog·ra·phy, a noun, is the art or technique of decorating wood or leather by burning a design on the surface with a heated metallic point. Pyrography was particular popular in America and Europe during the last quarter of the 19th century and first quarter of the 20th century.
