Germany Arts and Crafts monumental 5 Arm candleabra or candle holder designed by William Wagenfeld for WMF, an Art Nouveau (Jugendstil period) inspired designer in 1952. Fine original silver plating condition with good patina from appropriate age.
Dimensions: 11.5″ high and 9″ in length and 9″ depth, this is an original 1952 issue signed WMF with old original mark on one stem.
Fine quality. Beautiful craftsmanship.
Provenance: German ceramics collection and estate from the 1930s.
History:
Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik WMF AG was a German tableware manufacturer founded in 1853 by Daniel Straub and the brothers Schweizer. Most works of art are heavy-walled with flat bottoms and are attributed to WMF’s principal designer and general manager from the 20’s to the 50’s, Karl Wiedmann.
