History:
Carstens Tönnieshof (1945-1984) was one of many pottery factories owned by members of the Carstens factory, but it’s the primary one for art pottery during this era. When marked, Carstens has the “twin house” mark with a T over C in the middle. They used red clay, but some items were made in Austria and Australia and have white clay. Carstens pottery produced very high quality and rank with the very best that the German arts and crafts period produced.
Provenance: Old European collection
