China, a large fine hand-carved jade eagle or bird , style of China’s north eastern Hongshan culture (4700-2900 BCE), carving dates to early 20th century, 5.5″ H x 5.25″ W x 2.5″ D, green and taupe jade, originally from a private Taiwanese collection acquired twenty five years ago.
History: The Hongshan culture was a Neolithic culture in northeastern China. Hongshan sites have been found in an area stretching from Inner Mongolia to Liaoning, and dated from about 4700-2900 BC.
