From Japan comes this substantial two part hand cast bronze FLOWER VASE Usubata which can be used for flower arranging a unique candleholder, or serving food dishes on it broad round top. A complimentary candle shown is included.
Quality: It is beautifully silver inlaid with floral accents. This bronze is unusual and rare: a theme featuring an effigy of an Ainu Woman (indigenous people) from Northern Japan – a seldom seen motif.

History of Ainu:
The Ainu or the Aynu are an indigenous people of Japan (Hokkaido, and formerly northeastern Honshu) and Russia (Sakhalin, the Kuril Islands and formerly the Kamchatka Peninsula. On June 6, 2008, the Japanese diet passed a bipartisan, non-binding resolution calling upon the government to recognize the Ainu people as indigenous to Japan, and urging an end to discrimination against the group. The resolution recognized the Ainu people asan indigenous people with a distinct language, religion and culture.
