Japan folding two-panel tea screen furosaki byobu depicting “Contemporary Horizontal Wispy Reeds,” mineral ink colors on paper 26” high and 68” wide when fully extended. Virtually mint condition.
A lovely composition in reasonable, useful size with vibrant gold and gray colors and a mottled blue backing and lovely black lacquer frame. These small tea screens are sought after today for their unique beauty, comfortable size, and the way that they complement contemporary settings.
Provenance: Private collection Kanazawa, Japan.
