We recently found this substantial 112 page calligraphy brushes book entitled Shohou Shoron by artist Ishikawa Kosai created in 1893, during the 19th century Meiji period (1868-1912). It details numerous ways, with fine woodblock print illustrations, to correctly grasp and paint with horse hair calligraphy brushes.

This intriguing old decorative compositions are also quite appropriate for study and framing.
