Japan, a stunning antique two-panel gold screen byobu depicting prized and elegant cats in playful mood. It dates to the Edo to Meiji periods.
This depiction is rare Japanese screens and we are pleased to have found this one on our last Japanese acquisitions travels.
It is simple yet beautifully painted with a gold ground created by a skillful artist painter.
