A recent Japanese acquisition
Rarely seen, this Japanese octopus vase was hand crafted by a highly talented Seto ware potter. Seto ware (瀬戸焼, Seto-yaki) is a type of Japanese pottery produced in and around the city of Seto in Aichi Prefecture, Japan. Seto was the location of one of the Six Ancient Kilns of Japan.
In remarkably good condition and still boasting its original hand engraved signatures and glazed 7 legged octopus on rim, this vase would make a charming home decor accent or vase.
Signed on side.
