Fashioned by hand in stunning original brilliant colors and gold leaf.

Japan, a fine six-panel screen byobu carefully crafted by a professional artisan with vibrant colors and hand applied gold leaf. This attractive screen dates to the Taisho period circa 1920s or earlier.

Five red crested cranes tsuru walk among the mountains, trees, and electric blue waters underneath.

Features include a brilliant panorama of blue waters, cranes tsuru, and green pine trees. Please look at the photographs closely that reveal all of these fine details.

We are pleased to have found this one coming from an old Kyoto area collection.

Dimensions: Screen measures 50.5 inches tall and 105 inches wide extended.

Dark black lacquered wood beautifully frames this serene and striking composition. The original old backing paper is present.
