From Japan comes this fine handcrafted , hand-painted and glazed ceramic sculpture of the joyful Otafuku or Okame from the Taisho period (1912-1926).
Otafuku is the embodiment of feminine warmth as she smiles softly amongst her robes.
Otafuku is celebrated and venerated in Kyoto’s Sen- ben Shaka dou temple.
A beautiful mingei (Japan art of the people) Folk Art form.
