History of “moon rabbit”
The moon rabbit in folklore is a rabbit that lives on the moon, based on pareidolia that identifies the markings of the moon as a rabbit. The story exists in many cultures prominently in East Asia, it is seen pounding in a mortar and pestle, but the contents of the mortar differ among Chinese, Japanese and Korean folklore.
History of the Noren:
Traditional Japanese fabric dividers, hung between rooms, on walls, in doorways or in windows. They usually have one or more vertical slits cut from the bottom to nearly the top of the fabric, allowing for easier passage or viewing. Noren are rectangular and come in many different materials, sizes, colors and patterns.
