A very fine early small-scale Japanese antique hand-painted six-panel folding screen byobu conceived in a convenient size 18 inches high and 43.5 inches length. It has been beautifully hand drawn on paper in a floral design and with a rich oxidized silver and gold background.
Lovely muted colors feature classic spring and summer subject matter: rich silver and gold mist back ground with a green tree punctuated with white shell Japanese gofun flower highlights and pink touches, polychrome pigments on paper.
Smaller size makes this lovely one eminently installable.
Comes as found with original black lacquer frame and original backing paper.
