A beautiful and uncommon style Japanese Buddhist stone Jizo Bosatsu stands tall clutching his wish granting jewel or compassionate potion vessel.
Sculpted from a gray-hued sedimentary stone. Late-Edo period, circa 1840.
Careful inspection reveals remnant traces of scarce kanji incising to the left and right frontal sides- indications generally that this was a coveted sculpture and likely translate to a date and a possible donors or temple name. Weathering from appropriate age now conceals this.
Finest quality indoor or outdoor garden sculptural choice with a sublime genuine spiritual aura.
