An early large and hard to find Japanese stone Kannon Guan Yin in the gassho mudra of adoration. Beautifully hand sculpted from a gray-hued sedimentary stone.
Age: Great age early Edo Period, circa 17th/18th centuries.
Condition: Attractive old lichen patina. Remarkable condition for its great age.
An excellent garden or indoor sculptural choice with a genuine spiritual presence.

History of Guan yin and kannon:
Jizo Bosatsu is one of the most beloved of all Japanese divinities, Jizō works to ease the suffering and to answer the prayers of the living for health, success, children, and all manner of mundane petitions.
