This is a harder to find matching pair (2) of solid and finely cast effigies of tall “moon gazing” garden rabbits, usagi. They were sourced from a large American garden collection this past year. They each measure 6 inches tall.
These charming older ones still possess old cottage garden blue finish..
They are heavily cast and and would surely “pop” out in splendid fashion in your favorite garden spot!

Moon Gazing Rabbit
The Moon rabbit or Moon hare usagi is a mythical figure in Far Eastern folklore. This folklore originated in China and then spread to other Asian cultures. It is thought to live on the Moon that identify the hare with the moon’s dark markings. The rabbit is seen as pounding with a mortar and pestle – pounding the elixir of life for consumption and show hand production of mochi rice cakes. In Japanese and Korea the rabbit is pounding thede ingredients for mochi rice cakes.
