From our recent Japanese acquisitions in original condition
The first we have seen
Japan, an attractive and sturdy two part bird feeder hand cast in solid iron in an attractive “lotus and dragonfly” pattern. Both the main cylindrical body and top roof/lid section display finely cast flowers and dragonflies. The base of the cylinder features a wicker basket motif while the top of the cylinder displays wing like protrusions for fastening a chain to hang this beautiful work of art . You may display it either directly on its base or suspending it from a chain for example.
Versatile, this work of art may be displayed as a bird feeder, with plants, or as a clever candle or oil lamp holder inserted onto it base.
The original dark patina is indicative of its good age- and is just the way we like to find them.
We will include a complimentary 66 inch long chain as shown that may be affixed to both “wings” and sides of this garden piece.
In Japanese Culture dragonfly (Tombo) is known as the “victory insect”, or kachimushi, because of its hunting prowess and also because it is known to never retreat.
