An early and hard to find Japanese hand carved stone Kanon carved in relief over all organic lotus leaf form base and in a mudra of contemplation. Nyoirin Kannon Bosatsu is beautifully depicted in characteristic seated pose of royal ease, sculpted in relief from a gray-hued hard stone.

She has been beautifully hand-sculpted from a grey-hued hard granite stone replete with a fine lotus flower form base.

Age: Edo to Meiji period 19th century

Condition: Attractive old lichen patina. Remarkable condition for its great age.

An excellent garden or indoor sculptural choice with a genuine spiritual presence.
