Crafted using the ancient lost wax technique, this bell is a Japanese Shinto Suzu art style – dou-gyo bell, representative of China’s earlier Ming Dynasty and is a form that has been in Japan since the early Edo period. It is attractively cast with decorative Buddhist Sanskrit characters. It was frequently used in a Shinto temple environment and when suspended was struck with a striker causing the metal pellets inside to resonate a high pitched sound that communicates to monks that training and workplace activities were about to begin.

We will include a complimentary striker , the complete ensemble totals two (2) pieces. You will be receiving the bronze fish gong/bell plus a striker.

Dimensions: Bronze Fish with suspension cord is 13 inches high to top of the antique braided suspension cord and 22 inches long. Heavy weight 11 pounds.
