Genuine Whopper.
A large scale fine old Japanese 19th century hand-carved wooden KOI fish symbolic of prosperity, perseverance and good fortune. This big fish holds the round ball like wish granting jewel in its mouth.
Complete with original rope and iron hanger, fine original dark patina.
Originally a crossbar for a hanging pot hook ensemble called jizai, these were often displayed in Japanese main living rooms for suspending cooking pots and kettles over a charcoal fire. Today these antique works of art serve as wonderful decorative sculptures as ours.
Dimensions: Big 36 inches in length and 10 inches high

Many of the attributes of the Koi symbolize prosperity and success including several lessons individuals often encounter in life.
