Found in Japan and used by Buddhist monks, this unusual extra 10.5 inch thick bronze gong is the first of this bell form we have seen. It was likely a precious, highly coveted hand hammered musical chanting art form crafted by the finest specialized bronze craftsmen from and imported into Japan from Java,
a highly valued Japanese trading partner, way back when. The Javanese people are a Southeast Asian ethnic group native to the Indonesian island of Java.

This huge hand-hammered and wrought bronze percussion instrument was created by specialized century old craftsman with “nipple” construction. It is accompanied by a suspension cord shown in photograph. A 23 inch long striker is included and accompanies and completes this ensemble.
When struck, it creates a big serene reverberating sound perfect for stress relief meditating, or as a warm, welcoming and pleasant house guest dinner chime indoors or out of doors.
Dimensions: Entire ensemble is 27 inches high from bottom of going to the top of the attached cord. Gong only measures 20 inches diameter and is an amazing 10.5 inches thick.
