Japan, a superb old bronze casting of a signed early 20th century Komainu lion dog and complete with its very own signed collector box tomobako. A fine example suitable for the most discriminating collector, from the Taisho period (1912s-1926s).

The robustly cast sculpture seated on is haunches, with broad muscular chest, long flowing mane and flame like tail, with possesses a murashido red and faint green patination which is achieved when the hot bronze is dipped into oil right after being fired to achieve the mottled patination and lovely finish.

Hard to find and likely one-of-a-kind standing 13″ tall and 10.5″ wide and 6″ in depth. Fine old patina.

Quality heavy casting.
