This is a hard to find and finely cast effigy of a tall “moon gazing” floppy ear garden rabbit usagi which was sourced from a large garden collection this past year. It measures 9 inches tall.
This charming older one still possess an smooth bronze finish that originally came from a Japanese maker.
It is heavily hand cast.
It would surely “pop” out in splendid fashion in your favorite indoor display or out of doors garden spot!

Moon Gazing Rabbit
The Moon rabbit or Moon hare usagi is a mythical figure in Far Eastern folklore. This folklore originated in China and then spread to other Asian cultures. It is thought to live on the Moon that identify the hare with the moon’s dark markings. The rabbit is seen as pounding with a mortar and pestle – pounding the elixir of life for consumption and show hand production of mochi rice cakes. In Japanese and Korea the rabbit is pounding these ingredients for mochi rice cakes.
