A Lovely face seated atop a budding lotus
Seated India Gandhara bronze Buddha, 19th century, Old UK Private collection
This beautiful Buddha sculpture will bring serenity and timeless style to your home, office, sacred space, or garden.
The Buddha is seated in the Abhaya or Protection Mudra. A hand gesture that offers reassurance and safety – dispelling fear and according divine protection and bliss to the devotee. This is one of the earliest Mudra found depicted on a number of Hindu, Buddhist, and Jaina images. The Buddha has a peaceful countenance with downcast introspective eyes and a firm brow. His earlobes are stretched long from a youth spent as a prince wearing heavy gold earrings. He is cast in two (2) pieces, the lotus bud base and the Buddha which gently floats on top.
