A highly decorative and hard to find Anglo-Indian finely carved and pierced rosewood or teak wood double high back settee with prolific floriate and grape design and with new seat and covering, circa 1860-1880, likely carved from the Bombay, India region. According to Wiki collecting “Guide for collectors: “Anglo Indian settees and wall sconces are considered to be the most rare and valuable.”
Dimensions: 36″ high x 74″ wide x 33″ deep; seat 16″ high.
Beautiful condition and a gorgeous accent work of art other than one 1″x4″ chip right side (see photo). This can be replaced and repaired. We’ve seen a similar settee at other gallery retail priced at up to $20,000. Over all solid to sit in and sip gin and tonics with the Raj…… Where will you find another?
A compelling decorative and accent work of art from a bygone era. An equally beautiful original 36″ high lounge chair (see photo) and flower stand are available.
Provenance: Old Cape Cod collection.
