Massive Japanese Bronze Bell Inscribed and dedicated to humanity and world peace.
History:
Many large Japanese bronze temple bells were requisitioned and smelted.
by the government before and during WWII. This huge bell obonsho was cast after the war to replace a previously requisitioned temple bell.
Massive dimensions: 55″ tall by 30″ in diameter, heavy.
Dated Showa 25 ( 1950)
Source from Muneatsuji Temple in Gifu Prefecture. This Temple is connected to the Rinzai temple of Myoshinji in Kyoto. Made by Fujiwara Sadaatsu.
Inscription says it was made for world peace- Respect virtue, Keep humanity
