Japanese Rare Edo Period Pair Temple Gilt Lotus Flower Bouquets
Category: Buddhist Collection, Uncategorized
We came across these very lovely and symbolic gilt lotus bouquets in Kyoto last month,
from an official source of Zen Buddhist antiquities. Made during the Edo Period (1603-1867ce)
for a Buddhist temple altar, the stem leaves and blossoms symbolize the stages of the path toward
enlightenment. They come with their own barkwood display bases, and measure up to 23″ hi and 16″wide.
Remarkably preserved and stunning!
