from Newport, RI, Treasures from Asia Garden exhibition launches 9/3-10/3/22!
With much anticipation, the opening of Schneible Fine Arts “Treasures from Asia”
will occur on Saturday September 3, and will run every weekend through Monday October 3,2022.
Many fine Japanese and other Asian bronze, terra cotta, alabaster, and marble
sculptures are featured in artfully arranged clusters throughout the garden at
the old Parkgate Mansion (now Elks Lodge) on Bellevue Avenue and Pelham Street, Newport, RI.
Newport’s ties to Japan go back to when local son Oliver Hazard Perry opened Japan to trade in
1853, followed by many sea captains bringing back Asian treasures for their “cottages”
here on the coast. Douglas and Schneible Fine Arts have returned the favor!
