Giant 44 Inch Legendary American Garden Protector
America’s friendly gnome
Since the early 20th century, American gardeners have been infatuated with these loveable garden gnomes.
No wonder why- legend tells us they protect gardens and bring owners good luck!
This is an extraordinary example of an old American heavy hand cast iron sculpture remarkably still in its original solid condition, exhibiting traces of older hand painted colors of white, cream, green, tulip red and with old lichen deposits clinging to its surface- good things that signifiy appropriate older age- just the way we like to find them. .
His warm friendly smile, pointed red toque (hat) and iconic bearded face speaks volumes about this fellows practical and industrious willing disposition and joyful personality. The iron lantern symbolizes his nocturnal duties and 24 hour watch.
