An uncommonly tall and large old Japanese Buddhist stone Jizo Bosatsu stands tall clutching his wish granting jewel or compassionate potion vessel.
Sculpted from a gray-hued sedimentary stone. Late-Edo Period, circa 1850. Very minor old loss.
Careful inspection reveals remnant traces of scarce kanji incising to the left and right frontal sides- indications generally that this was a coveted sculpture and likely translate to a date and a possible donors or temple name. Weathering from appropriate age now conceals this.
An excellent garden or indoor sculptural choice with a genuine spiritual aura.
Dimensions: 18.5 inches tall and 8 inches wide
