No ordinary antique gong- Impressively rare art. Extra oversized massively thick bronze measures 20 inches diameter and 10.5 inches thick.

Found in Japan and used by Buddhist monks, this unusual extra 10.5 inch thick bronze gong is the first of this bell form we have seen. It was likely a precious, highly coveted hand hammered musical chanting art form crafted by the finest specialized bronze craftsmen from and imported into Japan from Java, highly valued Japanese trading partner, way back when.

This huge hand-hammered and wrought bronze percussion instrument was created by specialized century old craftsman with “nipple” construction. It is accompanied by suspension cord attached to a bronze/iron mounting bracket. A 20 inch long hardwood striker is included and accompanies and completes this ensemble.
When struck, it creates a big serene reverberating sound perfect for stress relief meditating, or as a warm, welcoming and pleasant house guest dinner chime indoors or out of doors,
Dimensions: Entire ensemble is 40 inches high from bottom of going to the top of the iron suspension bracket which supports the cord hanger. Gong only measures 20 inches diameter and is an amazing 10.5 inches thick.
