An unusual large Jizo stone garden sculpture brandishing what a string of prayer mala beads and an alms bowl in his left hand and carrying a hat “kasa or jingasa” slung over his back side.

Jizo Bosatsu stands 20 inches tall and his posture invokes the humbleness of his daily life.
His robe possesses handsome lichen from his former garden location.

Jizo Bosatsu is one of the most beloved of all Japanese divinities. Jizo in addition to being a protector of children and travelers pleasures in his mudra of compassion -easing suffering and answering prayers of the living for health and success and all manner of mankinds mundane petitions.
This Jizo is a rarer form and an old garden sculpture with original smooth surfaces- all handsomely weathered from garden lichen and appropriate age.
