This is a hand carved lantern of one of Japan’s great historic architectural forms – the mountain house or “minka- Kusaya” house crafted in three pieces as a wonderful and useful stone lantern.

This is a good example with detailed roof line representing an old thatched roof, visually beautiful and appealing. Original old patina and surface wear from former garden use as you might expect from an old garden work of art.
