From Japan, a beautiful hand-built, painted and glazed, sake cup by Japan’s noteworthy artisan, Kamio Ogata (1949-)
Ogata pioneered this stunning light blue and white clay using his unique Neriage technique.
His works can be found in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, USA (2006), New Orleans Museum of Art (2009), Minneapolis Institute of Art (2010), Saint Louis Art Museum (2015), Asian Art Museum (2016) all house his works.
Ogata’s signature is carved on the bottom.
The original artisan signed kiri wood storage box tomobako and information sheet and furoshiki wrapping cloth is included.

Neriage technique is an ancient Japanese technique of layering, cutting and re-combining different colors of clay, creating an intricately patterned loaf that is sliced and applied to the clay body.
