This is a very fine solid cast silver bronze effigy of a rabbit usagi which has been embellished by this masterful artist with fine hair, eyes. and pricked ears. This was sourced from a large Japanese collection this past year.
It is accompanied by its original signed wooden collector box tomobako.
This is a rabbit statue by Japanese sculptor Naoki Tominaga accompanied by its original wooden collector box signed Happy Rabbit “Fuku Usagi” on the box.
About this artist:
Naoki Tominaga (1913-2006), Tokyo University of the Arts.
In 1984, he was awarded the Order of Cultural Merit and the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Third Class, in 1984.
In 1989, he was awarded the Order of Culture.
In 1990, he was awarded the Nagasaki Honorary Citizen’s Award. Served as director and chairman of the board of directors of the Nitten. Later, he became an advisor to the Nitten.
