Just look at that beautiful original wood grain!
This is an antique handcrafted wooden sewing Tansu with fine lines and a multitude of storage features and options. It is in remarkably clean original “natural” condition. It is jam packed with its old and original contents, all manner of sewing notions: buttons, thread, patches, needles, and fabric swatches.
Beautiful grained Zelcova (elm) wood including a folding hinged top which reveals a cushion for needles.
It is 100% original and is in good condition with the Zelcova (elm) wood in Fine shape.
Meiji period, circa 1890-1910.
Leave it to the Japanese master craftsmen to create this amazing practical and useful storage chest crafted from natural zelcova wood. Also known as Elmwood
