History of Thailand’s elephant bells:
The design of this large bell is a typical shape of most southeast Asian animal bells. This one like its smaller mates, was mounted on a yoke and worn by water buffalo. Because of its large size and heavy clapper within, the clapper when struck strikes a deep penetrating thumping sound.
