Unusual Find with original signed collector storage box

This is a personal shrine sized Japanese Buddhist stone traveler’s and children’s guardian Jizo Bosatsu. He stands tall clutching likely an alms bowl between his hands.

Showing an original dark paina, he is sculpted from a gray-hued sedimentary stone.

He is accompanied by an original prolifically signed wooden storage box tomobako

Jizo Bosatsu is one of the most beloved of all Japanese divinities. Jizo in addition to being a protector of children and travelers ,works to ease the suffering and to answer the prayers of the living for health, success and all manner of mundane petitions.

Attractive older patinated surface and handsomely weathered from appropriate age.
