Rare Collection finds from our most recent Japanese acquisitions trip.
This is a unique Japanese pair of smoothly cast and textured kiseru smoking pipes from the late 19th century, Meiji Era (c. 1890). These kiseru are made of two separate silver ends with a central section of bamboo. Both the mouth piece as well as the bowl end are made of high grade Japanese silver. They have an aged patina from over a century of use.
These 100+ year old antique kiseru measures 8 and 6.5 inches in length respectively. They have been well used yet well loved and along with their warm aged patina remain in functionally fine condition. The last picture shows a wood block print from the early 1800’s of a geisha holding a kiseru frequently used during the Gion Geisha days similar to this one.
You’ll love them, we guarantee it.
